Thank you to everyone that has been so supportive of us, and helped us to get this far. We are forever grateful.
Things have been relatively quiet over here at DW HQ, but there has been a lot going on behind the scenes, rest assured. John and I are ecstatic to finally reveal some great news. Over the course of 2013 we have been in discussion with Ruthless pictures and Kino Lorber/Horizon movies to secure national distribution for Dead Weight. We could not be more proud of the work we have done and what we've achieved together with our cast and crew, and are very much looking forward to working with Kino Lorber, Ruthless, and Horizon movies to present our film in North America.
Dead Weight will be released nationally on January 21st, 2014. It is available to pre-order now over at Amazon.com (Here - Please go and rate the film if you've seen it!), available to save in your disc queue at Netflix (Here - hopefully streaming coming soon!), and up for ratings at IMDb (Here). The official press release can be seen below. Thank you for your support of our film so far, we can't wait to see what the future brings!
Horizon Movies is proud to announce the DVD release of Dead Weight, a new horror film by Adam Bartlett and John Pata that takes a thrilling new spin on the post-apocalyptic genre, following survivor Charlie Russell (played by Joe Belknap) as he develops a growing thirst for violence on his journey back to safety.
Set to street on January 21, 2014 with a SRP of $26.95, Dead Weight comes to DVD packed with special features including audio commentary with directors Adam Bartlett and John Pata, a second commentary track with actors Joe Belknap and Mary Lindberg, extended scenes, bonus featurettes and outtakes, and the theatrical trailer.
Dead Weight was a winner at film festivals including Best Feature - Big Bear Horro-Fi Film Festival (2013), Best Fantasy Feature - Fear Fete Film Festival (2013), Best Feature - Madison Horror Film Festival (2013), and nominated for Best Independent Film in the Rondo Awards in 2013.
Dead Weight is a pulse-pounding survival horror movie in which the humans are more terrifying than the zombies. In the wake of an apocalyptic viral outbreak, the undead take over major cities. Charlie Russell (Joe Belknap) treks through the relative safe zone of the wilderness to reunite with his girlfriend, Samantha (Mary Lindberg). As Charlie's journey brings him closer to his destination of Wausau, WI, he must face physical exhaustion, malicious survivors, and perhaps most menacing, his growing thirst for violence.

We have been lucky enough to screen in 15 film festivals throughout 2012, and we're very grateful to all those who had a hand in selecting our film and certainly grateful to all those that took the time to check it out.
We've even been honored with a few awards and nominations along the way! It's a great feeling to know people enjoyed the film enough to award us with these achievements.
As we continue to travel for Dead Weight the positive reviews keep pouring in! We've updated our About page with a batch of new links containing the most recent coverage, including some great new interviews so check 'em out! Warning: do beware of spoilers in those reviews!
We're always willing to chat with anyone interested in listening to us ramble on about the film, so if you're interested in interviewing us about Dead Weight please get in touch!
We have some big news in regards to where you can get your hands on a Dead Weight DVD. The Exclusive Co., Wisconsin's very own and America's oldest full-line independent record stores (rocking since 1956), are now carrying both editions of Dead Weight in all eight of their locations. That means you can now head out to the closest shop and support your local businesses and filmmakers at the same time!
Those in the Fox Valley can head to either the Oshkosh and/or Appleton Public Libraries to check out a copy, as well!
